How are you as a leader?
Leadership is a God-given privilege. There is no greater satisfaction than that which comes from unselfishly seeking the physical and spiritual welfare of those entrusted to our care or supervision.
William Wilberfore, a popular leader in England from 1780 - 1833 died with the satisfaction that the emancipation bill for which he has expended so much of his time and energy would be passed. The end of slavery in the British Empire was assured.
On the other hand, leadership is not always given recognition. Sometimes, they are neglected and disregarded. It is a fact that some of our leaders are expecting too much that after the end of their effor or action there will always be a golden plaque awaiting for them. Others, are satisfied in serving the students, without expecting honor for such duties entrusted to them.
Leadership, however, can be abused. Some of our leaders abuse their power and authority. They become authoritative and oppressive to the individual’s freedom of expression. They are what we called self seekling leaders. "To request" is hard fro them but "to command comes easily". As a result, gap and divergence between members and leaders occur. But mind you… those who vie for prestige and power are accountable before God.
We too will one day give account of our lives. So let’s fulfill our God - given rolse with the solemn realization that "to whom much is given. from him much will be required". So let’s use what HE gave us wisely. As leader, we must not aim for popular work or recognition rather we must fulfill our task honorably.
